A Special Guard was arrested on Friday, August 28, by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, following a complaint filed by a 16-year-old girl who alleged sexual misconduct against her. According to the minor’s account, the 27-year-old officer followed her in his car after she left the Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni Crime Investigation Department, approached her, and — despite her repeatedly telling him her age and refusing his advances — allegedly grabbed her by the waist and attempted to kiss her. He has been criminally charged with sexual assault of a minor, released pending trial, and his court date has been set for September 7, 2026.

The official statement on the Special Guard’s arrest
The Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces released the following statement: A Special Guard was arrested on Friday, August 28, under flagrante delicto proceedings. A case file was opened against the Special Guard for the offense of sexual assault of a minor, and the public prosecutor filed criminal charges against him for the same offense.
The arrest followed a formal complaint. According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon, when the minor had visited the Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni Crime Investigation Department to collect her new national ID card.
As she was leaving the building, she alleged that a police officer serving in the ID Issuance Office followed her in his car. Near the intersection of Aphroditis Street and Poseidonos Avenue, he allegedly parked his vehicle, approached her, and told her she was very beautiful.
The 16-year-old stated that she told him her age multiple times, but he allegedly asked to hug her. When she refused, according to the complaint, he grabbed her by the waist and attempted to kiss her. The minor pushed him away and left the scene.
During her interview with police officers, the 16-year-old identified the Special Guard as the individual who, according to her complaint, carried out the described actions.
Officers subsequently went to his home, located him, and brought him to the department, where he was arrested under flagrante delicto proceedings.
During questioning, he exercised his right to remain silent, stating that he would give his account before the public prosecutor in the presence of his attorney.
On Saturday, August 29, he was brought before the Athens First Instance Public Prosecutor, who filed criminal charges against him for sexual assault of a minor.
The defendant was referred to the Athens Third Summary Single-Member Misdemeanor Court, where he was released and a regular hearing was scheduled for September 7, 2026.
