The fact that in his book Alexis Tsipras records «his personal “compass”, his visionary statement for the future of the Left, the progressive camp and the country» created a sensation among many, as they believe that through this chapter his return as a contender for the country’s leadership will also be made.
What Tsipras reveals in his book “compass” for the Left
Within 600 pages -possibly more- former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will evidently present his vision for the future, as well as for the Left. Furthermore, beyond what he will mention about 2015 which will be discussed by other parties as well, of particular interest is the fact that Alexis Tsipras will address the reasons for the 2019 defeat, as well as the crisis within SYRIZA. As some maintain, moreover, and from the fact that not all party officials will participate in Alexis Tsipras’s potential new venture, what he writes about SYRIZA’s crisis is expected to be particularly discussed both at Koumoundourou and in the New Left. At the same time, the book will contain special reference to the reasons that led Alexis Tsipras to resignation and to what happened during those days.
Alexis Tsipras wrote the final lines of the book just a few days ago. According to sources, it constitutes testimony -and indeed from the protagonist himself- of the critical events of one of the most turbulent periods in post-transition Greek history. In its eleven chapters, author Alexis Tsipras describes and reveals the dramatic behind-the-scenes negotiations, unknown conversations with foreign leaders, what led him to his decision for the referendum, as well as the booby-trapped path immediately after the agreement for the country’s exit from the memoranda.
According to sources, Alexis Tsipras, contrary to what some believe, does not avoid explaining and critically and self-critically evaluating his central choices throughout this journey. The book is expected on bookstore shelves by early December from Gutenberg publications.
