The deployment of American private military companies, following the model of Blackwater or Russian Wagner, has reportedly been proposed by Donald Trump, within the framework of discussions concerning potential security guarantees for Ukraine. According to the Telegraph, the US President, in his conversations with European governments about a potential peace agreement, proposed the participation of mercenary companies from the United States to strengthen the country’s defensive capabilities and act as a deterrent against Russia.

The plan envisions that contractors could undertake the reinforcement of fortifications, the construction of military bases, as well as the protection of American businesses in Ukraine, thus providing an additional level of security. The proposal is being considered alongside other measures discussed by the states of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing,” with France and the United Kingdom taking the leading role.
The choice of private military forces, according to the Telegraph, allows Trump to remain faithful to his promise that he will not send the American army to Ukraine, while simultaneously addressing the concerns of his more “isolationist” supporters.
It should be noted that, according to the Financial Times, Trump had previously discussed with European officials even the possibility of involving Chinese peacekeeping forces in a “neutral zone” in Ukraine – a report that the White House categorically denied.
Meanwhile, EU Defense Ministers have agreed on sending military trainers to strengthen Ukrainian armed forces, within the framework of European security guarantees.
