New developments are expected to emerge in the disappearance case of 50-year-old Chinese interpreter You Ting, as her husband’s attorney, Anastasios Dougas, announced that a court order lifting the missing woman’s telephone and banking secrecy is expected within the day — a development that is anticipated to shed light on her last known movements before she vanished without a trace. Speaking exclusively to parapolitika.gr, Mr. Dougas explained that the criminal complaint filed on Monday, July 13, for the offenses of abduction and homicide was primarily aimed at accelerating the investigation and compelling key witnesses — who have yet to be summoned — to provide testimony.
“We filed a criminal complaint for abduction and homicide. As the days go by, hopes are fading. We have submitted all available evidence regarding You Ting’s financial transactions for the competent authorities to evaluate,” he stated.
He emphasized that it is critically important to examine individuals who had professional and financial disputes with the 50-year-old, describing them as “key witnesses” who may possess crucial information that could prove decisive for the course of the investigation.
Missing Chinese interpreter: “There is no evidence whatsoever that she left voluntarily”
For his part, the missing woman’s husband, Vasilis Karavasilis, maintains that no evidence has emerged so far to suggest that his wife voluntarily left the country or chose to cut off all contact. “Her passport does not appear to have been used to exit Greece. There has been no activity in her bank accounts and no activity on her mobile phone. Moreover, she did not show up to a scheduled professional appointment that afternoon. All of these facts, in my assessment, point to the conclusion that she did not leave of her own free will,” he told parapolitika.gr.
He further stressed that the financial cases his wife was handling should be thoroughly investigated. “We have no financial obligations. On the contrary, there are people who collectively owe us approximately €500,000,” he noted, adding that the largest outstanding financial matter involves a property purchase in Kifissia, while there were also other financial disputes related to the 50-year-old’s professional partnerships and business activities. “I cannot rule out that my wife’s disappearance is connected to one of these cases,” he concluded.
