Shocking scenes have emerged from the Kizlyar district of Dagestan, in southern Russia, where a massive locust swarm blanketed the sky, leaving residents both stunned and deeply alarmed.

Videos circulating on social media show millions of locusts taking flight simultaneously, forming a dense “cloud” that creates a spectacular yet deeply unsettling sight. Eyewitnesses described scenes unlike anything they had seen before, with the insects blanketing vast stretches of sky.

The phenomenon quickly drew widespread reaction online, with many users on the platform “X” comparing it to the Ten Plagues of Egypt, as described in the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament. The locust invasion is one of the biblical plagues, and numerous commenters felt the footage was a direct reference to that very “plague.”
According to the Mirror, a local resident filming the swarm was heard saying: “Where are they heading? What on earth is this? Thank God they’re not heading toward the city! They’ll eat us alive!”
