New intelligence allegedly indicating that Iran is considering a plot to assassinate Donald Trump has been handed over to the United States by Israel, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The information comes during a period of escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, against the backdrop of confrontations over the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian threats of retaliation.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the new assessment by Israeli intelligence services could signal further escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran.
Tehran has repeatedly pledged over the years to take revenge on Trump for the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps general, during Trump’s first presidential term.
The Israeli embassy in Washington declined to comment on the report, while Iran’s mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to the Wall Street Journal, no further details have been made public regarding the alleged new assassination plot against the American president.

Trump-Netanyahu phone call on Iran
Against this backdrop, Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call on Thursday evening, as part of the two countries’ ongoing coordination over the conflict with Iran. Trump briefed Netanyahu on US military movements in the Gulf and American strikes against Iranian targets.
For his part, the Israeli prime minister warned the American president about the possible approval of an F-35 deal with Turkey. Netanyahu also raised the issue of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s hardline statements against the existence of the state of Israel, as well as the need to maintain security zones along Israel’s borders.
No further details about the conversation between the two leaders were made public.
Despite the call and the developments unfolding across the Middle East, a White House official confirmed that there are currently no plans for a face-to-face meeting between Trump and Netanyahu.
