Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis focused on activating the Joint Committee to reassess existing agreements and propose new ones, as well as advancing technical committee discussions on continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone delimitation during his visit to Tripoli, Libya. The minister met with Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Acting Foreign Minister Al Taher Salem Al Baour.
“It is important that two countries that are direct and genuine neighbors, like Greece and Libya, maintain excellent cooperation in a turbulent geopolitical environment in our region and advance issues that concern them. They should also promote relations of peace and prosperity,” Gerapetritis emphasized.

“It was an exceptional honor to be here today in Tripoli to meet for the second time with Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and Acting Foreign Minister Al Taher Salem Al Baour.
I would like to warmly thank the leadership in Tripoli for the very warm welcome and hospitality. We had the opportunity to discuss many issues concerning our bilateral relations. Issues related to bilateral trade, cooperation in migration, collaboration in international organizations, and cultural and educational cooperation.
We jointly decided to activate the Joint Committee, which will deal with key issues, reassess signed agreements, and propose new agreements. It is important that two countries that are direct and genuine neighbors, like Greece and Libya, in a turbulent geopolitical environment in our region, maintain excellent cooperation and advance issues that concern them. They should also promote relations of peace and prosperity.
We decided to advance discussions of technical committees concerning continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone delimitation, to cooperate in international organizations with an eye to the future, to be able to collaborate in an environment where both countries will have mutually beneficial agreements.”
