European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new immediate energy support package from the European Union to Ukraine worth €100 million, during a joint press conference with European Council President António Costa and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Specifically, in their joint statement marking four years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the three leaders reaffirmed that the European Union’s support for Kyiv will continue and be strengthened, emphasizing that the Union has already allocated nearly €200 billion in military and economic aid, more than any other partner.

They also emphasized that the European loan of €90 billion to Ukraine, which has been approved by the 27 heads of state and government, “will be implemented one way or another,” with priority given to covering urgent defense needs and strengthening Ukrainian armed forces.
Additionally, they announced the activation of a new immediate energy support package worth €100 million, as well as the preparation of a €920 million plan for the stabilization, restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy system, focusing on network restoration, restarting destroyed production units and enhancing the country’s energy resilience.
Finally, they underlined that the European Union is proceeding with preparations for the 20th sanctions package against Russia, in close coordination with its G7 partners, aimed at maintaining maximum possible pressure on Moscow.
