Intensified market inspections
According to an official announcement, targeted inspections carried out between June 23 and 25 in Halkidiki by officers of the Intersectoral Market Inspection Unit (DIMEA) resulted in the seizure and destruction of 15,282 counterfeit items, primarily clothing and accessories. Administrative fines totaling €208,250 were imposed for the violations identified. In addition, food service and hospitality businesses operating on beaches across the Halkidiki Regional Unit were also inspected. These checks revealed 16 violations, mainly due to the absence of price lists, with fines amounting to a total of €13,500.
Intelligence and complaints driving enforcement
According to data from the Authority, since the beginning of June, a total of 97 businesses on beaches in Attica, Corinthia, and Halkidiki have been inspected. A total of 33 violations of goods distribution, trade, and service provision regulations have been identified, with fines totaling €27,500 imposed.
The Authority emphasizes that it continues to act on intelligence, complaints, and targeted inspections, intervening wherever practices are identified that harm consumers, violate legislation, or distort the functioning of the market.
