The new international co-production by COSMOTE TV, “The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” premieres Saturday, January 17 at 9:00 PM on COSMOTE HISTORY. In this three-episode documentary series, distinguished historian Bettany Hughes explores architectural achievements of antiquity, unraveling myths and revealing their secrets.
From the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Colossus of Rhodes to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the series takes viewers on a captivating journey through time, shedding light on humanity’s greatest architectural and cultural masterpieces. Based on Bettany Hughes’ international bestseller “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” the documentary employs advanced digital techniques and high cinematic quality reconstructions, showcasing 4,000 years of human history. Additionally, the series incorporates an interactive element: a groundbreaking augmented reality (AR) experience. In each episode, viewers can scan the QR code appearing on screen with their mobile phones, gaining access to additional information and visual content.
The first episode focuses on the Great Pyramid of Giza and the pioneering Lighthouse of Alexandria, which has been characterized as history’s first “skyscraper.” After airing on COSMOTE HISTORY, each episode of the series will be available on COSMOTE TV’s On Demand service.
