Prices for electricity are changing and consumers will see the new charges on their bills starting February 1, 2026. The Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAE) proceeded with an adjustment of System Usage Charges for the Greek Electricity Transmission System, with the decision to be published in the Government Gazette on Monday, January 5. The change affects all consumer categories, from households to large industries.
When new electricity charges take effect
The implementation date for the new tariffs is fixed and concerns February 1, 2026. From that day, electricity bills will reflect the adjusted charges determined by RAE. Consumers should prepare for the changes coming to their bills, as the new pricing policy will affect each user category differently.
Detailed charges for High and Medium Voltage consumers
For large High Voltage consumers, the new charge is set at 4,391 euros per MW of power monthly, without additional energy costs. Medium Voltage consumers will face charges of 4,592 euros per MW each month. Regarding telemetered Low Voltage users, the power cost amounts to 5,482 euros per MW monthly. These categories mainly concern large-scale industrial and commercial units.
How households and small businesses are affected
Households and small businesses belong to the category of non-telemetered Low Voltage consumers. For them, the new electricity charges are calculated based on actual energy consumption in kilowatt-hours. The differentiation depends on the type of use:
- Industrial non-telemetered consumers: 0.788 cents per kilowatt-hour
- Commercial consumers: 0.918 cents per kilowatt-hour
- Street Lighting and Service Providers: 1.065 cents per kilowatt-hour
- Residential tariffs and other consumers: 1.151 cents per kilowatt-hour
What the changes mean for your bill
The new electricity prices will appear on bills from February 2026 onwards. Households with residential tariffs will see a charge of 1.151 euro cents for every kilowatt-hour they consume. This adjustment is part of the broader strategy for the sustainability of the country’s energy system. Consumers are advised to carefully monitor their consumption to control costs on their next electricity bills.
