Starting Monday, November 24, the disbursement of a major financial support package begins, totaling approximately €600 million, affecting more than 2.4 million citizens across the country.

According to the Prime Minister’s announcement, the now permanent €250 benefit will be paid to over 1.4 million pensioners, uninsured elderly, and people with disabilities. For couples where both meet the criteria, the total amount will reach €500.
Who qualifies for the €250 benefit
- The support covers:
– People aged over 65 years
– With annual income up to €14,000 for single or widowed persons and up to €26,000 for married couples or civil unions
– With real estate value up to €200,000 for single persons and €300,000 for married couples
– The age limit does not apply to those receiving disability pensions or disability benefits.
- The support will also be given to:
– Pensioners with primary disability pension from e-EFKA
– Beneficiaries of uninsured elderly pension
– Beneficiaries of disability welfare benefits from OPEKA
– Pensioners with absolute disability from former OGA
– Beneficiaries of extra-institutional allowance
– Foster parents of people with disabilities
– Beneficiaries of retroactive welfare benefits for November
How the support is paid
The €250 amount:
- Is tax-free and unseizable
- Is not offset against debts to the State, insurance funds or banks
- Is not subject to deductions or contributions
- If someone falls into multiple categories, they receive it only once
Rent rebate: When payments arrive
On November 28, approximately 1 million households will receive rent rebates for 2024:
- Up to €800 per household
- €50 increase for each child
- Covers primary or student residence
- No application required, provided income and property criteria are met
- Many beneficiaries will receive both supports within a few days.
What’s coming in the following months
These interventions are part of a €2.5 billion support package, including:
- Increases in pensions and wages
- Gradual elimination of personal difference
- Relief for wage earners
- Support for vulnerable groups and households
- With January pensions, approximately 2.5 million pensioners will see additional increases, while those maintaining personal difference will receive 50% of the increase given to others.

Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, emphasized that: “The €250 support and rent rebate are part of a broader plan. We want a Greece that leaves no one behind and transforms growth into real income for everyone”.
