Revolut has restored its services following a major disruption, the company announced on Tuesday evening (20/10). A large number of users had experienced serious issues on the platform after a digital blackout caused by a Google Cloud outage earlier that day. According to Revolut’s latest statement, the disruption was caused by an infrastructure problem within Google Cloud that also affected other financial services. Revolut confirmed that its services have now been fully restored and reassured customers that neither their funds nor their personal data were compromised at any point during the incident.

In its official statement, the company said: “Earlier today, some Revolut services experienced an outage due to an issue with Google Cloud services. We can confirm that services have now been restored. Our customers’ money and data are safe, and remained safe throughout the incident. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Digital blackout caused by Google Cloud failure
The technical issue first emerged on Tuesday around midday, when a power supply problem was recorded within Google Cloud. The company subsequently announced that its services were gradually recovering.
The disruption affected not only Revolut but also several other banks and apps across Europe. The problem came to light when Revolut users began reporting difficulties accessing their accounts, transferring money, making card payments, and withdrawing cash from ATMs.
When attempting to log into the Revolut app, users were met with the message “Something went wrong,” followed by a prompt to try again later. The outage caused significant frustration, as users were unable to access their available funds through the app, with no initial explanation provided as to the cause of the problem.

What Revolut said
According to Revolut‘s service status page, most of its services were either completely down or only partially operational. Among the affected services were card payments and ATM cash withdrawals. In a post on platform X, Revolut confirmed the issue while attempting to reassure its customers. “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe,” the company stated.
From the very first hours of the outage, the company acknowledged the problem, announcing that it was working to resolve it and assuring customers that their money and data remained safe throughout. Revolut reiterated this message in a follow-up post on X: “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused.”
