During a routine prenatal ultrasound, an unborn baby girl appeared to form a smile just seconds after hearing her father’s voice. The incident took place during a prenatal appointment in Canada, when the expectant father approached his partner, Leah Oliveira, kissed her belly, and began speaking softly to their unborn daughter. “Good morning. Happy Saturday,” he said, before asking her, “Are you hungry?” A few seconds later, on the ultrasound screen, the little girl appeared to break into a smile. What scientists know about hearing before birth
