The sources also added today, Thursday (07.05.2026), that “developments regarding the situation of ships trapped in the vital maritime passage will occur in the coming hours“. Additionally, the same sources reported that agreements were reached regarding the relaxation of the blockade in exchange for the gradual opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, senior US officials revealed that Washington set “red lines” in potential talks with Iran.
They clarified that the American side set as a precondition Iran’s commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons acquisition, as well as the dismantling of facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, and the prohibition of underground nuclear activities, according to reports by the Wall Street Journal.
They also mentioned that Washington sought a temporary suspension of uranium enrichment lasting 20 years, with delivery of all enriched nuclear materials.
They also confirmed that the US insisted on the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, with gradual relaxation of the American naval blockade of Iranian ports until completion of the final agreement. Furthermore, they emphasized the need to ban all transit fees, remove mines and impose mandatory passage measures in the Strait of Hormuz.
