A soccer game at a Michigan elementary school ended in unspeakable tragedy when a young man opened fire, killing a 14-year-old and a woman who tried to help him. According to local media, the incident occurred at Southwest Elementary School. The young man attempted to join the soccer game and was denied, prompting him to pull out a gun and start shooting at the children.
“At least seven or eight children were in the area, minors who witnessed something like this. It’s horrible for anyone to see, let alone minors,” said Joe Trigg, local police chief. Classes at the school and another nearby were canceled.

Michigan: The perpetrator was an 18-year-old denied participation in the game
According to Trigg, the shooter was an 18-year-old who requested to participate in the game. “For whatever reason, he wasn’t allowed to play,” Trigg said. “Apparently this upset him, so a verbal altercation started, which led to the 18-year-old pulling out a weapon and shooting the minor. The woman had come to help, verbally, the minor victim, and became a target.”
The 18-year-old fled but was arrested, according to police.
