Two Greek tourists visiting Turkey opened a Greek flag inside Hagia Sophia, resulting in their arrest. More specifically, according to information, the two individuals reportedly held a flag reading “Orthodoxy or Death” and chanted slogans inside the sacred space. The suspects include a woman with a Greek passport and a man holding both Greek and Australian passports. As shown in security camera footage, the individuals entered Hagia Sophia as members of an organized tour group to Turkey. After passing through security checks, they moved to the upper floor of the gallery, which is open to visitors.

One of the tourists then pulled out a flag he had hidden inside his jacket and opened it. After posing for a photograph, he handed the flag to another member of the group, who posed in turn. Security personnel quickly identified the situation through surveillance cameras and intervened, while another group member appeared ready to hold the same flag. According to reports, the flag depicted a double-headed eagle along with a written message stating: “Orthodoxy or Death!”
