Greece’s Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis has responded to a TikTok video in which the creator openly wished that he had died in place of singer Giorgos Mazonakis. “Something excessively toxic exists in our society,” the minister remarked, referencing the controversial video and expressing deep concern over the spread of hatred through social media platforms.
“My God, why Mazonakis and not Adonis Georgiadis”
The video that alarmed the Health Minister featured the phrase: “My God, why Mazonakis and not Adonis Georgiadis?” Georgiadis pointed out that the creator was essentially wishing publicly that he had died in place of Giorgos Mazonakis.
What made the incident particularly striking was the post’s enormous reach — the video reportedly amassed more than 50,000 likes, 234 comments, 850 saves, and over 11,300 reshares.
Adonis Georgiadis’s response
“Something excessively toxic exists in our society. Someone posts this vulgar and repulsive content online. Yes, they are wishing that I had died in place of Giorgos Mazonakis.
Someone is publicly wishing death upon a fellow human being. And this post receives… 50,000 likes, 234 comments, 839 saves to favorites, 11,227 reshares…
Sometimes all of this makes you genuinely wonder whether it’s even worth getting involved in any of this. It’s truly a shame how we have reached a point where we harbor so much hatred toward one another,” the Health Minister wrote in his post.
