Greek Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis welcomed India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance. The meeting centered on developments in global trade, EU-India trade relations, the deepening of Greek-Indian economic ties, and the strategic potential of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
As the meeting made clear, the ongoing realignment of global trade is making it increasingly critical to build resilient supply chains, reliable trade routes, and stronger economic partnerships that reinforce stability and growth. Special emphasis was placed on cooperation prospects in shipping, logistics, technology, digitalization, agri-food, energy, and tourism, as well as the mobility of skilled professionals.

The discussions also highlighted new investment opportunities emerging from the shifting global landscape, with Greece positioned as a natural gateway for Indian businesses entering the European market, and India recognized as one of the world’s fastest-growing economic powers. A central topic of discussion was the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) — a geopolitically significant initiative that aims to redraw trade maps between Asia and Europe.
Within this new connectivity architecture, Greece is emerging as a strategic hub, leveraging its geographic position, its ports, and its modern infrastructure to play a pivotal role in the future of Eurasian trade.
