Shocking new testimonies have emerged in the Peristeri case, where a 41-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her ex-husband by lacing his food with atropine. A close relative of the 41-year-old victim broke down while speaking to Mega’s Live News, saying: “We have been through so much, we have suffered terribly. Even now, we were afraid that our child had some psychiatric condition that doctors couldn’t diagnose. His doctor now told him, ‘Throw everything away. No medication, nothing.’ That’s what he told him after this whole thing came to light — even though he had been saying all along that ‘she’s poisoning me,’ and the doctor didn’t believe him.”

Peristeri: The testimony about the victim’s mother
According to a witness speaking to Live News, the victim’s mother was hospitalized once between February 26 and 28 — two weeks after her son. “His mother was admitted to the Athens General Hospital from February 26 to 28, two weeks after her son. She had drunk water from her son’s home during a period when she was staying in Athens to help him with their grandchild, and she suffered the same effects. She immediately developed dry mouth, numbness in her hands and feet, and hallucinations began. Every blonde woman she saw in the hospital, she thought was her daughter-in-law and wanted to lunge at her and kill her. Her mind had become so clouded. The doctors thought she was mentally ill.
They told her it was caused by extreme emotional sensitivity and banned her from visiting her son in Athens. And so, since she never went back to his home, she never had another episode. There were only two incidents. During the second one, she took Xanax, as the doctors had told her to.
Her husband had to carry her to the car because she couldn’t walk, and was forced to restrain her in the seat because she was trying to open the door and throw herself out. After twenty-four hours, she had recovered. She was fine. Until this story broke, she had been taking psychiatric medication because they had told her she had a mental health condition,” said a person close to the 41-year-old victim.
“We have suffered terribly”
A close relative of the 41-year-old victim stated: “We have been through so much, we have suffered terribly.
They added: “At Athens General Hospital, during the second episode, his father went to his door and said, ‘Son, open up for me.’ He was knocking. He couldn’t find his key, couldn’t find the keyhole. He was completely disoriented. He struggled to open the door and then started shouting, saying, ‘Why won’t you let me sleep? My doctor told me to take two Xanax and go to sleep. And why are you and mom always fighting? Just leave.’ And he threw him out.
And I don’t know what else she may have been putting in the water. At the hospital, they kept asking us, ‘What did he eat? Could he have eaten something outside and got food poisoning?’ No. Food from home. ‘Did he drink anything outside?’ No, everything was from home. It never crossed our minds. His workplace was even afraid to let him into the operating rooms, and he himself was frightened. They had removed him from his duties — because he is a surgeon. And the doctors were saying, ‘Fortunately,’ they said, ‘the episodes don’t seem to affect you during work.'”
