A bloody attack left an 18-year-old of Egyptian origin fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed multiple times by a group of approximately 15 individuals. The attackers had set an ambush for the young student outside an evening high school in Metaxourgeio, Athens. Shocking footage captured the moment of the brutal assault on the teenager and was subsequently released by Greek television network Mega.

Metaxourgeio: The brutal attack on the 18-year-old Egyptian student
The documentary footage obtained by Mega captures the moment the Egyptian student is attacked with a knife. The incident began when the group of 15 individuals laid in wait outside the evening high school. The attackers struck as soon as they spotted the 18-year-old and another Egyptian student stepping out during a break to visit a nearby supermarket. The assailants beat the two young men with ferocity, and the 18-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and lung.
Fighting for his life
The young victim managed to make it back to the school entrance before collapsing. Officers who arrived at the scene applied a special chest seal to keep him alive. The 18-year-old was rushed into surgery and remains in serious condition.
According to reports, the victim arrived in Greece a year and a half ago and is currently housed in a shelter for unaccompanied migrant minors. His first words to police were that he did not know the individuals who attacked him and his friend.
“There were about 20 of them”
Reports indicate that the 18-year-old’s friend, who sustained injuries to his face during the attack, has identified one of the perpetrators. “There were about 20 of them — they started insulting me and then attacked me. I had never seen them before. I didn’t understand why they attacked me,” he told Mega.
It was the school’s principal who called the police after spotting the student lying bloodied in the courtyard. The perpetrators have not yet been apprehended, and authorities are actively investigating whether the motive behind the near-fatal attack was racially motivated.
