A brutal knife attack on a 32-year-old man in Elefsina has sent shockwaves through Greece, carried out by two young men aged 22 and 18 who are reportedly affiliated with the neo-Nazi organization “Pro Patria.”
Elefsina: “I’m a fascist” and “slit his throat” — neo-Nazis’ chilling words caught on camera
The 22-year-old suspect turned himself in to police on Friday evening (October 9), while authorities continued their search for his 18-year-old accomplice. Disturbing audiovisual footage has since emerged through the television program “Exelixeis Tora,” capturing the moments of the politically motivated attack on Thursday, October 8, 2026. In the harrowing video, one of the attackers is clearly heard declaring “I’m a fascist,” moments before the order “slit his throat” rings out.
It was just after 4:00 p.m. on Konstantinoupoleos Street in Elefsina when security cameras captured a 32-year-old man walking his two dogs. Dressed in a white t-shirt, he was heading home without a care in the world, as traffic moved normally along the street.
A red car pulls up across from the victim, followed closely by a motorcycle carrying two individuals. One wears a white helmet; the other’s face is not clearly visible. The car drives away, and the two young men dismount from the motorcycle and appear to engage the man in white in conversation.
The 32-year-old tried to continue on his way, but the two attackers shadowed him at arm’s length, repeatedly blocking his path. The situation escalated rapidly when one of the perpetrators, wearing the white helmet, cut him off again and began shoving him, pushing the confrontation toward the main road.
The violent brawl, the stabbing, and the escape
Shortly after 4:00 p.m., the attackers cornered the victim once more, as verbal aggression reached a boiling point. After one of them openly declared “I’m a fascist,” the verbal confrontation turned physical. The 32-year-old grappled with the helmeted attacker, at which point the chilling command “slit his throat” was heard — and the knife blow landed. Moments after the attack, the wounded victim managed to pull himself up from the ground near some rubbish bins and limped away, while the two neo-Nazis continued to hurl abuse at him before mounting their motorcycle and fleeing the scene.
“This is how they tried to kill me” — the 32-year-old victim’s account
The victim spoke to Mega television from his hospital bed, showing his wounds on camera. The 32-year-old, who was stabbed in the thigh, has described the incident as a deliberate assassination attempt.
According to Mega, the 22-year-old claims that the 32-year-old was the first to attack him, pointing to a wound on his lower lip as evidence, and insists that his actions were retaliation for a previous assault he allegedly suffered on August 29, carried out by a group in which the current victim was the ringleader.
A timeline of the Elefsina attack
The bloody incident unfolded at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday on Konstantinoupoleos Street, when the two young men attacked the 32-year-old and stabbed him in the thigh. The victim — a gym owner well known in the area for his anti-fascist activism — was initially taken to the Elefsina Health Center and subsequently transferred to Tzaneio Hospital.
Recounting the dramatic moments on radio station Mega News 104.6, the 32-year-old said: “I told them — I didn’t think they had come to carry out a murderous attack like this, I thought they just wanted to shout and make a show of themselves. I said, come on, calm down. I told them there are people living in the building below, it’s the middle of the afternoon, you’re making noise — come on, move along. They moved. They kept it up in the same tone. And while they were talking to me — one was wearing a helmet, the other wasn’t — the first one attacked me. The moment he came at me, I won’t lie to you, I didn’t just stand there and take it. I put him on the ground. He started yelling to his friend: ‘Get him, get him, slit his throat.'”
As he went on to allege, the targeting was clearly politically motivated: “One of them told me: I’m so-and-so… I’m a fascist and I run things here. I won’t repeat the rest. In the end, he was the one who attacked me first. He was also the one who ended up on the ground, telling the other one to stab me. I said to him: why did you come after me and not someone else? He answered: you’ve been a leftist and an anti-racist for years. We know you — you’re the one we came for.”
According to the charges filed, it was the 18-year-old — who was wearing a helmet and organization insignia — who delivered the knife blow. The victim concluded by saying: “Since they’re fascists, that’s what they do — for no other reason, given what we know they are. They are knife-wielding killers. And right in front of someone’s home, like that… they have no shame, no limits. They said it themselves — they told us exactly what they are.”
