Horrifying details have emerged from the statements made by the 43-year-old suspect in the case of a dead baby found inside a suitcase in Kypseli, Athens. The 43-year-old spoke to Mega TV and described the infant’s final moments. “The child was sick, had something wrong with its intestines and also had a hernia. The child was born in 2021 — look at the photos on Facebook from my posts. It was fine, and then after 8 months we were told it was ill,” he initially said.

Dead baby case in Kypseli: “It was secreting something white”
Regarding the day of the infant’s death, the 43-year-old stated: “We were sitting down for a meal at the table as a family, in the living room. Next to us was the baby’s crib. That day it had a fever. My wife looked at it and told me, ‘the baby isn’t well, it’s unresponsive.’ Then I heard a ‘pop’ sound, and I saw its stomach swollen up like a balloon. I tried to massage it, but the baby passed away at that moment and was secreting something white.”
Regarding the stab wounds found on the body, he claimed that the infant “had frozen solid and we wanted to get it out. We didn’t stab the baby — I was hitting the ice. But because no blood was coming out, I didn’t know I had struck the baby. I wanted to get it out so I could move it somewhere else. I didn’t slaughter it — that’s why it had the knife wounds. We wanted to break through the ice to move the child elsewhere. We put it in the suitcase because I was afraid they would take my other children away too, since they are undeclared.”
For her part, the 38-year-old German woman stated: “I deny the charges — I did not commit the crimes I am accused of. I ask for leniency from Greek justice; I am innocent. I did not report the child’s death because I wanted to keep it with me. The drugs were for my own personal use.”
Suspects remanded in custody
It is worth noting that all three suspects involved in the shocking Kypseli dead baby case have been remanded in custody on felony charges of drug trafficking, as well as on the misdemeanor charge of failing to report the discovery of a deceased person. Proceedings will now also move forward on the second case file, which concerns the infant’s homicide and related offenses. The suspects are set to appear before the examining magistrate again tomorrow.
