A retired dentist is being referred to the prosecutor by the Heraklion Medical Association on charges of unlicensed medical practice. According to an ANT1 investigation, she allegedly performed colon hydrotherapy and bioresonance treatments for detoxification. Following the story’s publication, the center’s website and her social media accounts were taken down, despite initial assurances that she was not performing medical procedures.
Heraklion dentist: From retirement to running a holistic center
The woman in question is a retired dental surgeon who stopped practicing in 2016 and, according to the ANT1 report, shortly afterward began appearing on television programs and online channels presenting herself as a doctor, researcher, and consultant at a holistic wellness center in Heraklion. She allegedly offered medical advice involving “miracle baking soda” and olive leaves, even recommending them as treatments for cancer. The report states that the center was carrying out colon hydrotherapy and bioresonance sessions using colon cleansing equipment for detoxification purposes. Following the exposé, the center’s online presence and the dentist’s social media accounts were swiftly removed.
Three more doctors referred to disciplinary board in Heraklion
At the same time, the Heraklion Medical Association is referring three additional doctors to its disciplinary committee, who are alleged to have carried out illegal cosmetic procedures or engaged in misleading advertising. The investigations are not limited to Heraklion — in Rethymno, another doctor is being brought before the disciplinary board in connection with a case involving injectable vitamins.
Lawsuits filed in Chania over illegal injections and botox treatments
In Chania, the Medical Association has filed lawsuits against a beauty center and a tanning salon for performing illegal injectable treatments. A beautician from Russia has also come under scrutiny, reportedly booking botox appointments across Greece through social media pages. Separately, a veterinarian is under investigation on allegations of administering botox injections.
