A significant rise in temperatures is expected over the coming days, with the weather taking on distinctly summer characteristics and the mercury approaching 40 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast from ERT meteorologist Nikoleta Ziakopoulou, the heatwave will gradually intensify, creating conditions of extreme heat across most of the country. The highest temperatures are expected to be recorded inland, where the thermometer will reach between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius in several areas.

Weather: Where temperatures will drop and storms are expected
Among the regions set to be most affected is Macedonia, which is expected to bear the greatest heat burden during the heatwave. Conditions will remain stifling in several areas, while sunshine will dominate across most of the country. However, from Thursday and Friday onward, a gradual shift in weather is expected, with increasing atmospheric instability primarily across the central and northern parts of the country. Localized storms are expected to develop intermittently, while temperatures will also begin to fall, signaling the weakening of the heatwave.
Severe weather events have already been recorded in parts of Epirus, with heavy rainfall locally disrupting daily life, and the instability is expected to spread to other parts of the country.
