Piraeus: shocking eyewitness account of elderly man’s trident attack over parking space
A witness to the incident described what they saw: “It was just before two o’clock… It wasn’t exactly about a parking space. It was about the young man pulling out so he could pull in. He rang his doorbell and told him ‘don’t park here again, you’re not entitled to this parking spot’ — things like that. We heard the shouting and came outside.”
The witness continued: “We see him walking over to his car and opening the boot, pulling out the trident. He chases one of the guys and catches him on the arm, but the guy managed to slip away behind some cars. Then he went after the other one, who slipped and fell. At that moment it looked like he was going to skewer him, but it seems he caught himself just in time and hit the guy with the wooden handle instead.”
“He makes a fuss over trivial things”
Police were called to the scene and proceeded to arrest the elderly man. He was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm and violation of weapons legislation. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the relevant authorities, with the 77-year-old being brought before a public prosecutor. As the witness concluded: “We called 100, the DIAS motorcycle unit arrived and arrested him. He hasn’t caused serious trouble like this before, but he does tend to make a fuss over trivial things.”
