Immense grief has engulfed Kefalonia over the loss of 19-year-old Myrto, who lost her life after her companions abandoned her unconscious in the middle of the street. The heartbreaking words of her father in the aftermath of this unspeakable tragedy are particularly shocking, as he says among other things that “I don’t exist anymore, I’m finished.”
It should be noted that one of the three arrested individuals had spoken from the beginning about drug use, specifically cocaine, in the hotel room where the 19-year-old reportedly collapsed.
Reports indicate that the 19-year-old used cocaine twice, and during the second time she collapsed. However, her companions did not immediately give it the necessary attention, and when they realized that the girl had lost consciousness, they transported her and abandoned her at a central point in the city, instead of taking her to the hospital for first aid. For this reason, all three individuals were arrested for endangering a person and are currently before the prosecutor.
The 19-year-old was at the hotel with her 23-year-old boyfriend from midnight. Around 2 AM they used cocaine, which was supplied to them on site by the weightlifter, whom they called to bring them drugs.
All three reportedly used cocaine. In fact, an hour later the athlete reportedly returned with a new quantity of drugs. The 22-year-old friend was with him.
The three of them, except for the 22-year-old, used cocaine again. And that’s when the 19-year-old reportedly collapsed. According to information, the former weightlifter had reportedly been arrested in the past for drugs. This individual had reportedly stopped weightlifting for the last four years.
Kefalonia: Devastated father of 19-year-old speaks out
The father of the 19-year-old, speaking on a television program, described his daughter as a quiet and sheltered child with no connection to substances or dangerous behaviors. He maintained that the young woman may have been influenced or trapped by third parties, asking for the investigation to reveal exactly what happened in the final hours before her death.
“My child wasn’t that kind of child. They may have influenced her, trapped her, slipped her something, made her their victim. The investigation will tell us these things,” he said.
“When the ambulance arrived she was conscious, within two minutes she had died. The child, from 3 o’clock when they left her there until 5, they had thrown her on the sidewalk and she was dying on the sidewalk. Not even if she were a dog,” he added.
“I don’t exist anymore, I’m finished. Just one word, I don’t exist. You’ll see me in a few days when I won’t exist. My little girl, this bud, this little angel, would have become Miss World. I kept her in Kefalonia so she wouldn’t go to Athens, wouldn’t take the university exams, so I wouldn’t lose her in Athens. With everything that happens, so many crimes, I kept her here. I enrolled her in vocational school and now they’ve killed her,” he added.
“My child was innocent, she had no connection to drugs, no connection to alcohol. It was school and home, and sometimes she would go with her girlfriends for coffee. Normal things. I believe they deliberately seduced her, put something in her drink and she suffered what she suffered, thrown in the street.
She was studying microbiology to pass her time, so she wouldn’t sit at home. I was even building her 3-4 maisonettes. Now they’ve taken my life, my breath, the air and the sky with the stars. She was everything to me,” he concluded.
