Six new funding actions totaling €4,448,614.15 in public expenditure have been approved to help PhD holders gain academic teaching experience through independent teaching assignments at Greek universities. The funding was announced under the ESPA program Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2021–2027, following a decision by Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis.
The six new funding actions cover the following institutions:
– Hellenic Mediterranean University
– Athens University of Economics and Business
– National Technical University of Athens
– University of the Aegean
– University of Western Macedonia
– Ionian University, and
– Technical University of Crete
For the 2026–2027 academic year, the following universities have already been included in the program: University of Patras, Democritus University of Thrace, Panteion University, University of Macedonia, and University of Crete. The submission, evaluation, and inclusion process is ongoing for the remaining institutions across Greece, while the total budget covering the 2024–2025, 2025–2026, and 2026–2027 academic years is expected to reach approximately €85 million.
