A resounding message about the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to defuse the war crisis in the Middle East was sent by the president of Capital Maritime & Trading, Evangelos Marinakis, at the “10th Capital Link Maritime Leaders Summit” conference. Specifically, he emphasized that the war must end and simultaneously highlighted the importance of energy and the development of broader strategic relationships.

Evangelos Marinakis at 10th Capital Link Maritime Leaders Summit: “We are in a waiting mode”
“The war and tensions in the region remain catalytic factors,” emphasized Mr. Marinakis. “The war should have stopped yesterday,” the president of Capital Maritime & Trading stressed emphatically. “In certain areas, prices are very high and, based on all these developments, one would expect oil prices to be even higher,” he added.
“Since the start of the war, we have been in waiting mode, while new delays for ending the war continue to emerge,” he added. Regarding the main sticking points of talks between the US and Iran, namely nuclear issues and the Strait of Hormuz, Mr. Marinakis underlined that there is confidence that an agreement can be reached, a fact that creates greater trust for the future.
Evangelos Marinakis on Middle East war: “Optimistic that a solution will be found in a few weeks”
“We remain optimistic that within the next few weeks a solution will be found,” he characterized. In another part of his statements, he conveyed, with emphasis on energy, that there is “a large volume of cargo related to energy transport and stockpile creation. Countries’ energy sufficiency can be ensured through these transports, which is more important today than ever.”
“For us, it is particularly important to build strategic partnerships and to be present and reliable partners for the future,” Mr. Marinakis continued meaningfully with an eye on the country’s energy upgrade. “We see a clear trend for these specific activities to develop more and more,” he added.

On sanctions
Regarding sanctions, Mr. Marinakis noted “I disagree with their effectiveness. I believe they don’t have much logic. The European consumer was the one who was burdened most by these policies.” At the same time, countries like India, China and Saudi Arabia continued to buy oil, he added, while “Russia appears to be collecting more revenue than in the past.”
For this reason, the question arises as to what is the real result of all these sanctions, emphasized Mr. Marinakis. “The war continues, so where exactly is the impact of the sanctions? What tangible result have they brought about?”, Evangelos Marinakis wondered about the sanctions.
