Diesel subsidy extension: “Price de-escalation”
As emphasized by ministry sources, this specific intervention has already contributed substantially to price de-escalation at the pump. Indicatively, the average diesel price was €1.818 per liter on 24/05, compared to €1.882 on 30/04, while on 31/03 – before the subsidy began – it had reached €2.122 per liter. This means that today’s diesel price is approximately 30 cents lower compared to late March levels.
“Continuing this support is considered particularly important given the increased diesel consumption by businesses during the summer period, taking into account the strengthening of tourist activity in the coming months,” it is added.
Child support payment distribution
Meanwhile, the emergency financial support of €150 for each dependent child will be disbursed at the end of June, with a total cost of €240 million. The support will be given automatically, without application, based on income criteria covering approximately 80% of families with children.
For a couple with one child, the income limit is set at €40,000 and increases by €5,000 for each additional child. For single-parent families, the corresponding limit is €39,000, also increased by €5,000 for each additional child.
Beneficiaries include approximately 975,000 households out of a total 1.2 million families with children, corresponding to roughly 3.3 million citizens. The total cost of measures to address the energy crisis that have already been announced and are being implemented is estimated at €825 million.
