Yannis Bratakos characterized as “positive” the new package of economic support measures announced earlier by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and their specification by the government’s economic team. Specifically, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated: “The Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry positively welcomes the government’s announcements regarding measures that support the real economy and particularly businesses, which continue to operate in an environment of increased costs, limited liquidity and international uncertainty“.
Yannis Bratakos: “The market needs even more stable, horizontal and permanent solutions”
As Mr. Bratakos states in his declaration: “The extension of diesel subsidies, continued support for the primary sector, but mainly interventions to facilitate debt settlement arrangements, are moving in the right direction. Particularly important are the provisions for expanding the extrajudicial mechanism, for the new possibility of 72 installments and for lifting bank account restrictions under conditions, as they can provide real relief to thousands of professionals and businesses.
We must, at the same time, point out that the market needs even more stable, more horizontal and more permanent solutions, beyond temporary accommodations. Businesses demand an environment that permanently supports their sustainability, competitiveness and growth prospects.
Therefore, the next step must be further reduction of non-wage costs, strengthening access to financing, accelerating private debt settlement regulations and forming a more functional framework for small and medium enterprises. In this direction, ACCI’s request remains the restoration of overdue public debt settlement in 120 installments, to support liquidity and growth prospects of viable businesses.
ACCI will continue to intervene institutionally, with concrete proposals, so that every fiscal margin created translates into substantial support for entrepreneurship, employment and productive Greece”.
