“The proposal from the Prime Minister and the government for my third consecutive term as Governor of the Bank of Greece is the greatest honor for me and an expression of confidence in my person,” declared Yannis Stournaras, following the relevant announcement by government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis.
Stournaras: “I will remain committed to the fundamental mission of this important institution”
“I want to assure that I will remain committed to the fundamental mission of this important institution, which in 2028 completes a hundred years of existence, having played a leading and creative role in economic developments, namely ensuring monetary stability and the stability of the financial system, contributing to the development of the Greek economy for the benefit of the country and Greek citizens,” as Mr. Stournaras noted.
Stournaras: Government proposes renewal of his term
It is recalled that the government proposed the renewal of the term of the Bank of Greece Governor, Yannis Stournaras. It is noted that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met today, Wednesday (15/04), at the Maximos Mansion with Mr. Stournaras. As stated in an announcement by government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis: “Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met today at the Maximos Mansion with the Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras. The Government, taking into account the independence and Constitution of the Bank of Greece, proposes the renewal of the term of the current Governor, Yannis Stournaras.”
