Promoting the Greek economy abroad and attracting foreign investments is once again the goal of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is already in Singapore for a two-day visit, while in 10 days he will travel to London, where he will participate and speak at the Greek Investment Conference co-organized by Morgan Stanley and the Athens Stock Exchange.
In Singapore, one of Asia’s largest financial centers and globally, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have separate meetings and discussions with the country’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, today at 09:45 (local time) and with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at 11:00. This is the second meeting between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and a Singapore Prime Minister, as in December 2022 he had met in Brussels with Lee Hsien Loong, Lawrence Wong’s predecessor, on the sidelines of the European Union-ASEAN Summit.
Tomorrow, Friday, at 9:10 AM (local time, 03:10 after midnight Greek time), Mr. Mitsotakis will be at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore for a public discussion about Europe’s future with John Micklethwait, the British editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News, the well-known American news agency. His speech will focus on Europe – and the challenges, economic, political, geopolitical and energy-related in a changing world. The forum opened its proceedings yesterday, Wednesday, with a speech by businessman and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Mitsotakis will present Greece’s economic success story in Singapore – The prime minister’s agenda and investments
According to his associates, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have the opportunity to present Greece’s economic success story in Singapore and Greece as an investment destination for Asia, in one of its most developed economies and to investors who are less familiar with our country compared to European and American firms. Greece and Singapore, as the same sources emphasize, have common ground, as they are two countries that believe in multilateralism, the application of International Law and free trade.
The prime minister’s political contacts agenda is expected to include international and regional developments, as well as European Union-Singapore relations and the deepening of bilateral cooperation, particularly on digital governance issues and the application of Artificial Intelligence in governance, where Singapore represents a global model.
During his visit to Singapore, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a series of contacts with international investment houses and organizations that have a significant presence in a wide range of economic activities in Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond. The purpose of these meetings is to highlight Greece as an investment destination and its comparative advantages in traditional and emerging sectors of the Greek economy.
