In a three-minute recap of her first days in the country since assuming her new duties, American ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle delivers her own message via video. “What an honor to represent President Donald J. Trump and the American people in this country. Thank you Greece for the warm welcome! I am here to work hard, to strengthen the friendship between our nations and to help write the next great chapter of US-Greece cooperation,” she states in her post, which was uploaded to the US Embassy’s Instagram account.
Guilfoyle’s message: “We will tackle together the expansion of our energy cooperation”
In the video, Kimberly begins her narrative from the day of celebrating Greek national independence at the White House and refers to the historical ties and shared values that connect the two countries and their peoples. She makes special mention of Greek culture, while also praising the contribution of Greek-Americans with their traditions to US culture.
She characterizes Greece as a “reliable ally and vital partner” and highlights as major challenges, which, as she says, we will face together, “expanding our energy cooperation, strengthening regional security, deepening trade and investment ties and opening new paths for innovation“. She also thanks the people of Greece for their warm welcome and commits to working hard to strengthen the friendship between the two nations.
