Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will embark on a five-day visit to the United States next week, ahead of the 81st High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly. His first stop will be San Francisco on Monday (September 21), where the Prime Minister will meet with leading technology companies and members of the Greek diaspora active in Silicon Valley.
Mitsotakis: Investment at the heart of his New York visit
Investment takes center stage in Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ New York schedule (September 23–25). Specifically, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will participate in a roundtable with more than 30 institutional investors with exposure to Greece and its leading companies. According to government sources, he will also hold meetings with the heads and senior executives of major international financial institutions, with key agenda items including global developments in the areas of energy, defense, technology, and services.
Government sources also note that the Prime Minister will have the opportunity to highlight the substantial progress of the Greek economy, the government’s commitment to fiscal stability, and the continued advancement of structural reforms — efforts that have already resulted in a steady increase in investment as a percentage of GDP and record-breaking performance in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
He is also expected to emphasize that Greece represents a safe and welcoming destination for international companies looking to establish their regional operations, offering a particularly favorable tax regime for corporate executives.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Full schedule for his US visit
On Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be in San Francisco, where he will meet with high-tech companies and members of the Greek community working in Silicon Valley. On September 22, he will visit Stanford University, where he will speak at a closed event hosted by the Hoover Institution, with the participation of former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The Prime Minister will then travel to New York City.
On the morning of Wednesday, September 23, the Prime Minister will attend the launch event of the OceanEye Global Alliance, co-chaired by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. OceanEye is an EU initiative designed to enhance monitoring of the world’s oceans and seas by combining satellite technology with digital modeling, with the goal of generating better environmental and climate data while advancing European technological development.
Later that day, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will deliver remarks at a Greek diaspora luncheon co-organized by 28 community organizations — including representatives from AHEPA, HALC, PSEKA, AHI, HANC, and HACC. The event will also feature the decoration of distinguished members of the Greek diaspora, including Michail Amiridis, Dina Titus, John Koudounis, George Dangas, Athena Krommyda, and Patrick Theros.
As part of his participation in the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with world leaders, grant interviews to major international media outlets, and meet with representatives of prominent American-Jewish organizations (Wednesday, September 23).
On the afternoon of Thursday, September 24 (local time), he will deliver Greece’s address before the UN General Assembly. Earlier that day, he will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at UN Headquarters.
Also on Thursday, he will participate in an artificial intelligence event at Columbia University.
On the morning of Friday, September 25, he will give a live interview on Bloomberg Television.
