Trapped between SYRIZA and Alexis Tsipras, several Koumoundourou MPs find themselves in a difficult position, as they are daily called upon TV shows to give explanations about Tsipras’ party and SYRIZA’s future.
Given that the former prime minister left SYRIZA to create his own political entity, and since no one knows anything concrete about this scenario, the position of many officials is particularly difficult.
Political turmoil in SYRIZA awaiting Tsipras moves: Who’s at the exit door and who’s excluded from the new party
In private discussions, some MPs even claim they have considered becoming independent from their party. This move obviously has to do with the next day and Alexis Tsipras’ thoughts on creating a new political entity, however no one can assure them for now when and how the former prime minister will move. The same people also believe that such a move would obviously put SYRIZA in a particularly difficult position, at a particularly critical period for the party.
The truth is that most Koumoundourou officials have their eyes turned to Amalias. Daily, they ask if there’s any news about Alexis Tsipras’ next moves, while trying to interpret the former prime minister’s actions. No one, however, calls the former prime minister or asks for a meeting with him, as everyone knows the timing isn’t right, given that Alexis Tsipras doesn’t want to meet with anyone to avoid creating impressions.
At the same time, however, officials who now have no contact with the former prime minister, such as Nikos Pappas, Pavlos Polakis and Rena Dourou, each try in their own way not to provoke with controversial statements and positions, although those in the know say that for some of these officials the door has closed permanently.
Gutenberg publishing house injunction measures
Meanwhile, today the injunction measures filed by Gutenberg publishing house, which has undertaken the publication of Alexis Tsipras’ book, against Documento newspaper are being heard in court to prevent continued reproduction of excerpts from “Ithaca“. On the newspaper’s website there was a publication on Tuesday titled: “What does Tsipras write in his book about Nikos Pappas and TV licenses?“. The publishing house states that the excerpts “have obviously been illegally obtained through hacking of electronic files“, while the announcement emphasizes that the decision on when and how the work will be published “concerns exclusively the creator and the publishing house to which the relevant rights have been assigned“.
From the newspaper’s side, there was a response that the injunction measures have no legal basis. They argue there’s no violation of intellectual property rights and that these actions “serve the attempt to silence and control journalism“.
