The foreign ministers of the seven nations comprising the G7 issued a joint statement regarding the war in Ukraine. They emphasized that a ceasefire in Ukraine, nearly four years after the Russian invasion, is now urgent. The statement was released following the summit in Canada, while there appears to be no light regarding negotiations to bring an end to the war. The foreign ministers of the United States, France, Canada, Italy, Germany, Britain, and Japan signed the statement.

All parties, through the statement, further emphasized their support for Kyiv, while declaring that “international borders must not be modified through force.” Additionally, they denounced North Korea, Iran, and China for their assistance to Russia. Highlighting that they are considering additional measures against countries and entities contributing to funding Moscow’s military operations, they condemned the provision of military aid to Russia by North Korea and Iran, bringing China into the frame as well.
