Mick Jagger, the legendary frontman of the Rolling Stones, spent three days in Chania, proving once again that age doesn’t limit curiosity and interest in the world around us. At 82, Mick remains active and fascinated by ancient Greek civilization, bringing his personal humor and disarming authenticity to every moment of his visit. Journalist Fani Nikiforaki had the opportunity to meet him at the Venetian Harbor as he departed from the city, and through their conversation, not only his love for history and archaeological excavations was revealed, but also his characteristic straightforwardness and humor when called upon to comment on more sensitive topics.

Mick Jagger in Chania: Impressions from excavations and the question about Parthenon Marbles
According to a report by zarpanews, Mick Jagger visited Ancient Eleftherna and toured the Kastelli hill in Chania on Sunday, November 2. The excavations and exhibitions impressed him deeply, while he emphasized that everything was particularly interesting, expressing his best impressions of Chania and Crete overall. When asked about the Parthenon Sculptures housed in the British Museum, he didn’t miss the opportunity to add with his characteristic British humor: “They are still there.” When asked whether he thinks they should be returned to Greece, he answered tersely and directly: “I have no opinion,” leaving those present with a smile and a touch of mystery, as only he knows how to do.
