As expected, Donald Trump is looking at the practical dimension of agreement terms that could lead to the end of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As the US President stated on the American FOX network, he expects Ukraine to make territorial concessions in any peace agreement. This way, his administration could mediate so that the nearly four-year war in Ukraine comes to an end. Donald Trump was clear when he commented that, based on the terms of the agreement that the White House would propose, Russia could keep some of the territories it has conquered since February 24, 2022.

Trump, who last week spoke by phone with Vladimir Putin and met with Volodymyr Zelensky, fell into a slight contradiction. When asked if Putin gave him the impression that he could withdraw without territorial gains, Trump answered affirmatively. However, he made a corrective statement: “He’s going to get something. I mean, he fought and he has a lot of property. I mean, you know, he has won specific territories“. Then, he proceeded to make a statement that FOX itself characterized as incorrect: “You know, we’re the only country that invades, wins the war and then leaves“.
