Alexis Tsipras should have formed a party back in 2019, argued former minister Panos Kammenos, speaking on Friday morning 17/10 on OPEN TV. However, he made it clear that he does not intend to follow his former government partner, while expressing positive views toward Maria Karystianou.

“The situation (in SYRIZA) was tragic. There were several voices that made his life unbearable,” said Kammenos, clarifying that he never followed Tsipras because he was the leader of the Independent Greeks party.
Regarding a potential return to active politics, Kammenos said he would talk with the former prime minister in an attempt to form a national unity government. “There are two million voters who are not covered by either PASOK or SYRIZA. They will all go with him (Tsipras), there is no one else who inspires governability,” he noted characteristically.
Panos Kammenos: I would vote for Maria Karystianou
Kammenos has a positive opinion of Maria Karystianou, believing that if she ultimately becomes actively involved in politics, she should not include any representatives of the old political system in her planning. “I would vote for her, it wouldn’t hurt her to have me with her, I would vote for her. She exudes a sense of justice that is missing,” he said.
Political involvement with his wife
The scenario regarding his own return to politics is less clear. “I’m at the eleventh hour of my return,” he said, without clarifying whether he would be directly involved or through his wife, in case the goal is confrontation with European powers and transforming Greece into an economic paradise by implementing a Trump agenda.
“There are new people, my wife for example because she fights in the courts, she could be the one to get involved. Politics has an expiration date,” he emphasized.
“If Samaras forms a party, I will enter the political arena”
Beyond economic development, Kammenos considers his involvement appropriate in case of a party formed by Antonis Samaras. “Samaras is going to mislead the right-wing world once again and negotiate offices for himself. If Samaras forms a party, I will enter the political arena,” he concluded.
