Rapid developments in the case of the murder of a Ukrainian man in an apartment in Agios Panteleimonas. Initially, police were investigating whether the injured Ukrainian had any involvement in his roommate’s murder, but now a third person has entered the investigation framework.
According to Star reports, this involves a Ukrainian who lived with the other two and disappeared from the first moment. The Athens Security Subdivision is searching for him to determine where he was during the critical hours and what he knows about the fatal attack.
Agios Panteleimonas: Scenarios being examined by authorities
One of the first scenarios authorities examined was whether the injured man could be a suspect in what happened inside the apartment. However, what he described to them — though not everything — matched the evidence police were finding. Thus, as hours passed, the 48-year-old moved away from the suspect framework, while the head injury he sustained could hardly have been self-inflicted.
Assessments of victim’s involvement with drug cases
According to Star information, the 48-year-old reportedly told authorities that the victim had involvement with drug cases and that there was money in the apartment — which, however, was not found. If there was indeed a connection to drug trafficking, police estimate this could explain the fatal attack.
It’s worth noting that neither of the two Ukrainians had a “heavy” criminal past, and they have hardly ever troubled prosecuting authorities.
