Donald Trump’s post on Truth Social about the Middle East is indicative of the US President’s perspective on the region, as well as the steps that have been taken in the direction he wants and the success of his purpose. Not even two days have passed since he said “I think we’re going to reach a deal,” referring to the end of the Gaza war, the release of hostages, and the withdrawal – temporally disproportionate though, at least based on the 21-point plan – of Israeli forces.
Specifically, Donald Trump wrote: “We have a real opportunity for something great in the Middle East. Everyone is ready for something special, for the first time. We will achieve it.”
Donald Trump: Meeting with Netanyahu for agreement
Donald Trump’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday is considered particularly crucial. At the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu appeared uncompromising, while the US President played the role of… firefighter. The framework of the agreement is what’s sought in the meeting. The US has already expressed its inclination toward non-recognition of a Palestinian state, although it emphasizes that it has the right to be sought.
Trump stated on Friday that talks about Gaza with Middle Eastern countries were intensive and that Israel and Palestinian Hamas fighters were aware of the consultations, which, he said, would continue for as long as needed.
It should be noted that on Friday, the American President stated that he is close to an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and return the hostages.
“Agreement that will end the war”
Specifically, in statements to journalists before leaving the White House to attend the Ryder Cup golf tournament in New York, Trump said: “I think we may have a Gaza deal. We’re very close to a Gaza deal. It looks like we have a Gaza deal, we’ll let you know. I think it’s a deal that will bring back the hostages. It will be a deal that will end the war. It will be a deal that will bring peace. I think we have a deal.”
The US presented a 21-point peace plan for the Middle East, aimed at ending the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
The proposal was circulated on Tuesday among officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, according to US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
