Two new subsidized employment programs for 20,000 unemployed people, with emphasis on youth, long-term unemployed, and women, are expected to be approved by the end of the year by the Public Employment Service (DYPA). These programs will strengthen efforts to reduce unemployment, combined with other open programs covering a total of 55,000 additional job positions.
The new administration of DYPA, under Gianna Chormova, is developing programs for 2026, which will be submitted for approval to the Minister of Education and Labor, Niki Kerameos. The programs will be targeted and focused on reducing female unemployment, which remains higher compared to male unemployment. The initiative will include business subsidies to cover salary costs, provided that hired employees are retained in their positions for a corresponding period.
