The deadline for submitting applications through the gov.gr platform for the acquisition of encroached public lands has been extended for another year, specifically until September 11, 2026. This new deadline is final, as the law does not provide for any further extension. It should be noted that Law 5024/2023 established the possibility of purchasing public properties that have been illegally occupied by private individuals, provided that the strict conditions set out in the relevant legislation are met.

The application submission process began last year in two phases, depending on the regional units of the country: from September 30, 2024 for certain areas and from October 31, 2024 for the remaining ones.
By decision of the Ministry of Finance, the final deadline for all areas of the country has been extended by one year, in order for citizens to take advantage of this opportunity and resolve pending issues that remain to this day.
