The company operating the ferry “Panagia Paravouniotissa,” which ran aground on the “Glaros” rock near Nea Styra in Evia, has issued a statement regarding the vessel’s towing operation and the “release” of cars trapped for the third consecutive day.

According to ERT, the company’s announcement invites any passengers who wish to file legal complaints and claims to do so. However, the statement emphasizes that: “The shipowning company reserves its rights regarding any adverse/defamatory comments, unfounded accusations, and other actions that took place in recent days. Everything will be answered in due time and after passengers’ ordeal comes to an end.”
It should be noted that the detachment procedure has been completed – with the company undertaking it being among the most specialized – and the ship was towed to the fishing shelter of Nea Styra.

“Regarding the grounding incident of FERRY BOAT PANAGIA PARAVOUNIOTISSA that occurred on August 5, 2025, we further inform you today 7-8-2025 at 17:50 as follows:
The shipowning company and the company undertaking the vessel’s detachment have submitted a relevant action plan and are awaiting approval from port authorities. This plan prioritizes vessel sealing, detachment, and transportation by towing to Nea Styra to unload passengers’ vehicles. Subsequently, the ship will be towed to a shipyard to complete repairs.
