In an atmosphere of deep emotion, the final farewell to Margarita Papandreou took place on Monday afternoon (September 21) at the Rictona Crematorium. Only close family members were present at the ceremony, during which songs by her beloved singer Dolly Parton were played. It is recalled that Margarita Papandreou passed away on the morning of Friday, September 18. As Nikos Papandreou had stated, “we will scatter you in your beloved Aegean Sea.”

Margarita Papandreou: The farewell at the First Cemetery of Athens
On Sunday (September 20), relatives, friends, and representatives from civic movements, charitable organizations, and cultural institutions gathered at the First Cemetery of Athens to pay their final respects to Margarita Papandreou. Shortly before 10:30 a.m., her children — George Papandreou, Nikos, and Andreas — arrived, followed by a number of prominent figures including Anna Diamantopoulou, Milena Apostolaki, Nadia Yiannacopoulou, Pavlos Christidis, Dora Bakoyannis, and Athena Linou.
