August pensions: Payments begin Wednesday July 30 – What applies to the personal difference
At the same time, the issue of the personal difference in pensions returns to the spotlight, with two scenarios being intensively discussed in the economic staff. According to the first scenario, the gradual abolition of the personal difference up to the amount of 100 euros is planned, something that will affect a significant number of pensioners. The second scenario speaks of a “haircut” of 50% on the personal difference amount, as an intermediate solution with milder fiscal impact.
Indicatively, in the case of a pensioner who receives a total of 1,500 euros, of which 1,100 euros constitutes the pension and the remaining 400 euros the personal difference, any change will have a significant impact on the net amount received monthly. Even with the implementation of annual increases of around 2.4%, as provided for, the real increase in the pension amount is expected to become noticeable in 2037, provided there is no substantial intervention in the framework of the personal difference.
