A major awareness event against the use of plastic bags is taking place for the fourth consecutive year at Syntagma Square, this Friday, July 3rd. This landmark recycling celebration is organized in honor of World Plastic Bag Free Day, with TEXAN A.V.E.E., NextStep Media, and the Municipality of Athens joining forces — reaffirming their strategic commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development in the Greek capital.

From early in the morning, a vibrant mix of information and entertainment will be broadcast live through on-site radio shows hosted by beloved journalists and producers, broadcasting directly from Syntagma Square:

Athens debut of the photovoltaic mobile recycling multicenter
At the heart of this year’s event is TEXAN’s brand-new photovoltaic mobile recycling multicenter — the world’s first energy-autonomous recycling facility for plastic and metal materials. Following its official debut at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), this groundbreaking center is being presented to Athenian audiences for the very first time, bringing a revolution in green technology to the streets of the capital.
Public activities, prizes, and surprises
Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to actively participate, learn more about recycling, and compete for an exciting range of prizes:
- Grand prize draw: All event attendees, as well as anyone who brings plastic bags for recycling and replacement, will be entered into a draw to win an electric scooter and 14 additional tech prizes (6 smartwatches, 6 solar power banks, and 2 action cameras).
- Free giveaways: Visitors will receive complimentary reusable fabric bags, encouraging the immediate replacement of plastic bags in our everyday lives.
- Photo booth: A fun photography corner awaits visitors of all ages, offering the perfect way to capture their participation in the event.
