Terra Creta at Economist summit in Chania: highlighting the value of Cretan extra virgin olive oil
As part of the event, Terra Creta curated the gastronomic experience for participants, highlighting the crucial role of extra virgin olive oil in Mediterranean and specifically Cretan cuisine. Through a variety of Cretan dishes, visitors had the opportunity to discover authentic Greek flavors, cooked with different Terra Creta extra virgin olive oils, in a gastronomic approach that showcased the importance of olive oil pairing.
The experience concluded with olive oil tasting, where participants were given the opportunity to sample Terra Creta’s extra virgin olive oil products, including the premium Terra Creta Grand Cru, which is awarded annually as the world’s No.1 extra virgin olive oil of Koroneiki variety according to the EVOO World Ranking.
During the conference, Mr. Alexandros Kikizas, CEO of Melissa Kikizas, participated in a panel highlighting the importance of the Greek Mediterranean diet, emphasizing its connection to Crete and its potential as largely untapped wealth for the country. In his presentation, he stressed that the Greek diet is not only part of our cultural identity, but also a comprehensive quality proposition with significant prospects for international development.
Mr. Kikizas emphasized the importance of exceptional raw materials and supporting the national primary production sector, as well as the need to further strengthen processing, so that the country can export not only individual products, but a complete dietary experience. As he mentioned, the Mediterranean and especially the Greek diet, originating from Crete, can become a substantial pillar of development and international outreach, provided it is integrated into a more cohesive national framework and a long-term strategy for promoting Greek food culture internationally.
With unwavering commitment to quality, innovation and respect for the eternal fruit, Terra Creta continues to showcase Greek extra virgin olive oil as a key expression of Cretan land and the Mediterranean diet, strengthening Greece’s position on the global map of haute cuisine.
