Maria Karystianou officially presented her new political formation named “Hope for Democracy: Maria Karystianou Citizens’ Movement“. The event took place at the “Olympion” cinema in Aristotelous Square, Thessaloniki, with a central message focused on seeking justice for the Tempi train tragedy and combating political corruption. Following her speech, she called for elections as soon as possible. She set governing the country as the goal of her new party, and when asked by parapolitika.gr, she stated that she will not collaborate with other parties or individual MPs, considering the existing political personnel a burden on society. She expressed satisfaction with Thursday’s May 21st event and said she will organize a similar one in Athens soon.

Journalist Thanasis Avgerinos opened the event, referencing Fyodor Dostoevsky’s literary work “Crime and Punishment” and emphasizing that punishment for those who committed crimes is approaching. Subsequently, actress Katerina Moutsatsou took the stage expressing her support for the new political initiative. Moutsatsou addressed the economic crisis affecting the country and emphasized the need for clean people in public life.

Before the official opening, attendees had the opportunity to sign the movement’s founding declaration. The program included recorded messages from members of the Greek diaspora abroad, farmers from different regions of Greece, and young people participating in the formation’s youth wing. Additionally, experts and specialists directly connected to the Tempi train tragedy case made interventions.
